Welcome to the farm

We're the Dorris family.

We call these rolling hills of Greenbrier, Tennessee home, and have for more than a century. Nestled within the picturesque landscapes of Tennessee's Robertson County stands The Brier Barn, a cherished gem with a rich legacy dating back to the early 1900s. Originally erected as a dark-fired tobacco barn, the structure helped generations of the Dorris family cultivate tobacco for over a century. Through the years, the barn underwent expansions to accommodate the family's growing needs, each addition crafted from locally-sourced lumber harvested right from the farm itself. Today, The Brier Barn stands as an authentic testament to Tennessee's renowned dark-fired tobacco heritage.

A labor of love spanning four generations, the Dorris family poured countless hours into the barn, transforming it into the epicenter of their tobacco production. From the fields to the barn's hallowed walls, each stage of the tobacco's journey—from harvest to curing—unfolded in these four walls. As tobacco leaves hung to dry within its rustic confines, the barn echoed with the echoes of a bygone era, where tradition and craftsmanship intertwined seamlessly.

In a remarkable turn of events, 2016 heralded a new chapter in The Brier Barn's storied history as the Dorris family breathed new life into its weathered timbers, transforming it into a breathtaking wedding venue. This metamorphosis, made possible by a century of craftsmanship and dedication, imbued the venue with an authenticity that is simply unmatched. Original sawmill lumber, oversized timber framing, and the natural dark patina adorning its interior walls—a testament to the tobacco firing process—all weave together to create an ambiance steeped in history and charm.

Today, as The Brier Barn opens its doors to couples seeking a venue as unique and timeless as their love, the Dorris family takes pride in offering a space where memories are woven into the very fabric of its walls. Amidst the rolling hills of Tennessee, this cherished landmark stands as a beacon of hospitality, ready to welcome family and friends alike to celebrate life's most precious moments in an atmosphere imbued with warmth, tradition, and a touch of rustic elegance. Experience the magic of The Brier Barn—a true testament to the enduring spirit of love, legacy, and the timeless allure of Tennessee's Robertson County.

“In all the world, there is no heart for me like yours. In all the world, there is no love for you like mine.”

"What set The Brier Barn apart from other venues for me was it offered everything I was looking for - a perfect Bridal and Groom suite that is plenty big to hold large parties, the prettiest open outdoor area for the ceremony, an indoor space for tables and food, and also an amazing covered area for any other tables and dancing. Everything flowed well together in the space, too."
